ARTE Re: Adriatic Hotspot – The Party-Goers

ARTE, 2017, 30 min.

Europe’s young have discovered a new place to party. Ibiza? Too expensive. Lloret de Mar? Old hat. Those who want to party hard and party cheap are being drawn to Zcre Beach in Croatia. More than 100,000 teenagers and young adults make the pilgrimage every year, to a beach that is only 400 metres long, where five open air clubs blast their guests with music round the clock. In the village of Novalja, with a population of just 3,500, some 26,000 beds are booked for the entire season – the per-capita income is higher than anywhere else in Croatia. A lucrative business for local Croatians? Not at all. The entire profit is collected by the party organisers and the tour operators.
