When you think of women in Islam in Europe, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the oppression of women. No religion is tainted with so many prejudices. But does Islam justify the discrimination of women? And can Western ideas of gender justice be transferred one-to-one to the Islamic world? Director Nadja Frenz introduces Muslim women who have set themselves the goal of finding their own path to emancipation. With them she explores the role of women in Islam and explores the suras of the Koran. Islam and women – a relationship that needs to be redefined after many hundreds of years of male interpretation.
